An Insulated French Double Door with Transom for Smaller Entries
This thermal break iron French double door with transom is designed for smaller exterior entries that need natural light, added height, and better insulation than a standard non-thermal-break iron door. The double doors create a balanced front-entry look, while the transom adds upper light without requiring extra width from sidelights.
This layout works well when the entry opening is not wide enough for sidelights, but still needs more presence than a door-only design. The transom helps the full unit look taller and brighter, making it a practical option for compact front entries, covered porch openings, and narrower exterior entry spaces.
TFD033 is custom made and can be adjusted to fit the project. Although this product is shown as a double door with transom for a small entry, the same style can be customized as a double door only, a single door with transom, or a larger entry system with matching sidelights. Size, glass finish, color, swing direction, handle style, jamb depth, transom height, door top design, glass layout, and thermal break specifications can also be customized.
Who This Door Is Best For:
This door is best for homeowners who want a French double door with upper transom light, but do not have enough entry width for sidelights.
It works well for smaller front entries, compact covered porches, and exterior openings where added height is more useful than added width.
TFD033 is also a good option for customers comparing thermal break French doors, double front doors with transom, insulated steel French doors, and custom iron entry doors for colder or high-temperature-change climates.
FAQ:
What does thermal break mean?
Thermal break means the metal frame includes a low-conductive barrier between the exterior and interior sides. This helps reduce heat transfer through the frame compared with a standard non-thermal-break iron door.
Can this design be made without the transom?
Yes. Since this product is custom made, the transom can be removed if the opening does not need extra height.
Can sidelights be added if my opening is wider?
Yes. Matching sidelights can be added if the project has enough width and needs more side light.
Can this design be made as a single door?
Yes. The same general French door style can be customized as a single door with or without a transom if the opening is narrower.
