Glory Iron & Aluminum Door Buying Guide

Everything You Need to Know Before You Buy

At Glory Iron Doors, we know choosing the right door is more than just picking a style — it's about security, performance, design, and lasting value. Whether you're a homeowner, builder, or designer, this guide will walk you through the key considerations to help you make the best decision for your space.

1. Choose Your Door Type

We offer a variety of high-quality iron and aluminum doors to match different needs and aesthetics:

  • Wrought Iron Doors: Decorative, Timeless, durable, and elegant — perfect for front entryways.

  • Iron French Doors: Great for patios, interior transitions, and letting in natural light.

  • Iron Pivot Doors: A bold, modern choice with smooth, dramatic opening mechanisms.

  • Thermal Break Iron Doors: Ideal for extreme climates — enhanced insulation, energy efficiency, and comfort. Available for all door types.

  • Aluminum Sliding & Bifold Doors: Sleek, space-saving, and great for indoor-outdoor living.

  •  Understand Thermal Break vs. Standard Doors

    • Thermal Break Doors: Feature insulation material inside the frame to prevent heat transfer. Ideal for hot and cold regions (e.g., NY, PA, MI, TX, CA). A bit more in price, but a smart choice for energy efficiency.

    • Standard Doors: Great for mild climates or interior use.

Tip: If you're in a climate with harsh summers or freezing winters, we highly recommend thermal break iron doors.

 2. Measure Your Opening

Before ordering, it’s important to measure:

  • Rough Opening Size

No matter whether you're purchasing an iron door or an aluminum door, it’s essential to confirm the rough opening size before placing your order.

For aluminum doors, the unit size includes the entire door frame. Please ensure your rough opening is at least 1 inch wider and 1 inch taller than the total door unit size to allow proper fitting.

For iron doors, each one is pre-hung, meaning the unit size already includes the jambs and threshold as part of the complete door system. So the rough opening size should be at least 1" wider and 1/2" taller than the door unit size. Pls confirm the door unit size and jamb size.
If you’re unsure about sizing for iron doors, please refer to our Iron Door Size Guide for assistance.

 2. Select Your Style & Finish

From classic scrollwork to minimalist modern designs, we offer customizations to suit any taste:

  • Glass Finish Options: Clear, frosted, rain, low-E, and more.

  • Door Colors: Matte black, Oil Rubbed Bronze, etc, and custom colors.

  • Hardware: Handles with lock set to match your design vision.

  • Door Swing Direction: Every door can be opened in your way.

After you select all your door specifications, add the item to the cart and then go and submit the order directly. If you can not find the size or design that you want, pls feel free to reach out, we accept custom design and sizes.
