1. Choose the door design first

Standard Iron Entry Door

Standard Iron French Doors

Standard Iron Pivot Doors

Equipped with a premium pivot hinge system, this door brings a dramatic look, gliding open and closed with ultra-smooth operation that feels effortless every time. Plus, its sturdy iron frame guarantees long-lasting durability and reliable security, so you get both style and peace of mind.

Thermal Break Iron Doors

These doors are ideal for extreme climates, as they come with enhanced insulation that boosts energy efficiency by keeping harsh outdoor temperatures at bay-whether it’s scorching heat or freezing cold-while also ensuring your home stays consistently comfortable year-round. All our iron entry doors, iron french doors, and iron pivot doors can be updated to thermal break doors. 

Aluminum Sliding & Bifold Doors

Ideal for spaces where space-saving and easy access are key. Aluminum construction ensures durability and resistance to corrosion, while sliding and bifold mechanisms provide convenience and a modern touch.

 

2. Customize your door

  • Door Type: Select your door type(single door, double door, or adding the sidelight/s )
  • Door Unit Size: Select the door size as per your opening size. Regarding the size, pls refer to our size guide. 
  • Jamb Size: The jamb size refers to the thickness (depth) of the door frame that surrounds and supports the door. It corresponds to the wall thickness the door unit is being installed into. 
  • Door Color: Popular choices: Matte Black, Oil-Rubbed Bronze. Custom colors available on request (check our Review Color Here ).
  • Glass Finish:  Choose your preferred finish. 
  • Glass Type: Generally, customers choose double-pane glass panels. However, if you are in Florida or North Carolina, where hurricanes are common, we recommend opting for triple-pane, impact-resistant glass.
  • Door Top: Select from multiple design options to match your door style.
  • Door Swing Direction: Pick based on usage. For double doors, designate one main active panel (the other is inactive, secured with flush bolts). For Aluminum Sliding & Bifold Doors, choose the sliding direction or folding pattern.
  • Door Handle Set: Choose from our available options. If using your own handle, to ensure a perfect match, we will need you to send the handle set to us for fitting testing. An additional operation fee may incur. 
  • Bug Proofing Screens: Only for decorative iron doors (attaches via magnets to iron frame/glass). Not available for French, pivot, or Aluminum Sliding & Bifold doors (due to door structure-the glass on them is fixed ).
  • Add Transom: If you will add a transom above the door, pls select the transom top, and then let us know the size you will make, then we will give the estimate accordingly.

Finishes: 7 coats of paint on top of zinc galvanized steel to prevent iron doors from dust & rust.

Scroll Works: 5/8” solid decorative scrolls 100% hand forged by our expert artisans.

Jamb: Standard 2" x 6" jamb injected with high-density polyurethane foam for energy saving.

Glass: All standard exterior iron doors come with dual pane tempered glass 5/8” for great safety.

Glass Window: Operable glass panels on certain styles that can be opened independently from the doors for easy cleaning and ventilation.

Thermal Break: Low conductive material acted as a barrier in the frame to reduce the flow of heat. All standard doors can be upgraded to thermally broken which is a good choice for severe cold winters.

How Do I Measure My Iron Door?

Ready to enhance your home or business with an iron door? While we recommend working with a professional builder or contractor for accurate measurements and installation, here’s a simple guide to help you understand the basics of measuring for iron doors.

All our iron door sizes are referred to as the net frame size or unit size. This represents the complete door system, which includes the header jamb, side jambs, and threshold.


Overview for Jamb Size, Rough Opening Size and Door Size (Net Frame Size)

 

The jamb size refers to the thickness of the wall into which the door unit will be installed. This measurement includes any sheetrock or exterior sheathing/siding. The most common jamb sizes are 4 9/16", 6", and 6 9/16", but we can also accommodate custom jamb sizes upon request.

The rough opening size refers to the wall opening created to fit a door. It is usually slightly larger than the actual door size to leave space for proper installation.

 

How to Measure for Iron Doors

Step 1: Measure the Width

  • Measure the distance between the left and right sides of the rough opening.

  • Take three measurements: top, middle, and bottom.

  • Record the smallest measurement.

Step 2: Measure the Height

  • Measure from the floor (or subfloor) to the top of the rough opening.

  • For square top doors, take two height measurements—one on the left side and one on the right side.
    If the door has an arch or round top, measure from the floor to the highest point.

  • Record the smallest measurement.

Step 3: Confirm the Depth (Jamb Size)

  • Measure the thickness of the wall where the door will be installed.

  • Include any sheetrock, sheathing, or siding.

  • Choose from our standard jamb sizes (4 9/16", 6", 6 9/16") or request a custom size.

Step 4: Calculate the Door Size

  • The rough opening should be about 1" wider and 1/2" taller than the door frame (unit) size.

Example:
Rough Opening: 73" x 96 1/2" → Door Size: 72" x 96"

Step 5: Double-Check

  • Always verify your measurements before placing an order.

  • For best results, we recommend having a professional contractor measure and confirm the opening.

If you can not find your size listed in the size options, you can email us at info@gloryirondoors.com, and then we will check the price and make the custom link for you to place the order.

Yes, we accept custom designs and custom size. Pls contact us to get your quote.

All our iron doors are pre-hung and size will include the jambs and threshold, so we will recommend the door 1" smaller in width and 1/2" shorter than your rough opening, so that the door can fit in.

For example, if the door unit size will be 72x96, then pls leave the rough opening size 73x96.5.

Shipping

We ship our doors national wide. The doors will be free shipped to the whole continental US.

Our standard leadtime is 14-16 weeks since the drawing approval date. All our doors are handmade by our artisans, so it needs a reasonable long enough production time.
