An Insulated French Single Door with One Sidelight
This thermal break iron French single door with one sidelight is designed for exterior entries that need natural light and better insulation, but do not require a full double-door layout. The single active door keeps daily entry simple, while the sidelight adds extra brightness and helps the opening feel more balanced.
The 6-lite glass layout gives the door a more classic French door appearance than a full-glass panel, while still allowing light into the entry area. This style works well for front entries, side entries, covered porches, and smaller exterior openings where a single door alone may feel too plain, but two sidelights or a double door may be more than the opening needs.
TFD201 is custom made and can be adjusted to fit the project. Although this product is shown as a thermal break single door with one sidelight, the same design can be customized as a single door without sidelights, a double door, or a full entry system with two sidelights or a transom. Size, glass finish, color, swing direction, handle style, jamb depth, sidelight width, lite layout, door top design, and thermal break specifications can also be customized.
Who This Door Is Best For:
This door is best for homeowners who want an insulated single French door with extra side light, but do not need the width of a double door.
It works well for exterior front entries, side entries, or patio-adjacent openings where natural light is important and the opening can benefit from one sidelight.
TFD201 is also a good option for customers comparing thermal break French doors, iron doors with sidelights, single exterior French doors, and custom iron entry doors for colder climates or homes with large seasonal temperature changes.
FAQ:
What does the sidelight add?
The sidelight adds natural light and visual width without turning the design into a full double-door system. It is useful when a single door alone may look too narrow for the opening.
What does 6-lite mean on this door?
6-lite refers to the divided-glass layout. It gives the door a more traditional French door look than larger glass-panel styles, while still keeping the entry bright.
What does thermal break mean?
Thermal break means the metal frame includes a low-conductive barrier between the exterior and interior sides. This helps reduce heat transfer through the frame compared with a standard non-thermal-break iron door.
Can this design be made with two sidelights?
Yes. Since the door is custom made, this style can be adjusted with one sidelight, two sidelights, no sidelights, or a matching transom depending on the opening.
