An Insulated 3-Lite French Door with One Sidelight

This thermal break 3 lite iron French single door with one sidelight is designed for exterior entries that need natural light, better insulation, and a balanced single-door layout. The 3-lite glass design gives the door a clean French door appearance, while the sidelight adds extra brightness without requiring a full double-door system.

This layout works well for front entries, side entries, covered porches, and smaller exterior openings where a single door alone may feel too narrow, but two sidelights or a double door may not be necessary. The thermal break frame helps reduce heat transfer through the metal structure, making this style a better option than a standard non-thermal-break iron door for cold-weather regions, hot climates, or homes with large seasonal temperature changes.

TFD309 is custom made and can be adjusted to fit the project. Although this product is shown as a 3-lite single door with one sidelight, the same style can be customized as a single door without sidelights, a double door, or a larger entry system with two sidelights or a transom. Size, glass finish, color, swing direction, handle style, jamb depth, sidelight width, lite layout, door top design, and thermal break specifications can also be customized.

Who This Door Is Best For:
This door is best for homeowners who want an insulated single French door with extra side light, but do not need the width of a double door.

It works well for exterior front entries, side entries, or patio-adjacent openings where natural light is important and the opening can benefit from one sidelight.

TFD309 is also a good option for customers comparing thermal break French doors, single French doors with sidelights, insulated steel French doors, 3-lite French doors, and custom iron entry doors for colder or high-temperature-change climates.

FAQ:

What does 3-lite mean?
3-lite means the door has a divided-glass layout with three main glass sections. It gives the door a cleaner French door look than a full-glass panel while still allowing natural light into the entry.

Why choose one sidelight instead of two?
One sidelight is a good option when the opening needs more light and visual width than a door-only layout, but does not have enough space for two sidelights or a double door.

What does thermal break mean?
Thermal break means the metal frame includes a low-conductive barrier between the exterior and interior sides. This helps reduce heat transfer through the frame compared with a standard non-thermal-break iron door.

Can the sidelight width be customized?
Yes. The sidelight width can be adjusted based on the rough opening size, entry proportions, and the customer’s preferred layout.
