A Full French Door Entry System with Side and Upper Light
This iron French double door with two sidelights and a transom is designed for grand exterior entries that need more natural light, extra width, and a balanced architectural layout. The double-door center creates a wider main entry, while the sidelights and transom help brighten the foyer from both sides and above.
This layout works well when the opening is too large for a simple double door but does not need a fully custom decorative entry system. The sidelights help the door look proportional across a wider wall opening, while the transom adds height and makes the entry feel more complete from the exterior.
FD312 is custom made, so the layout can be adjusted to match the project. Although this product is shown as a double door with two sidelights and a transom, the same design can be customized as a single door, a double door without sidelights, one sidelight, two sidelights, or with a different transom height and top shape. Size, glass finish, color, swing direction, handle style, jamb depth, sidelight width, transom height, and thermal break upgrades can also be customized.
Who This Door Is Best For:
This door is best for larger front entries where a standard double door may look too small or leave the opening visually incomplete.
It is a good fit for custom homes, wide exterior openings, covered porch entries, and projects where the customer wants more daylight without using a full glass wall system.
FD312 is also suitable for customers comparing iron French doors, double front doors with sidelights, front doors with transom, and custom iron entry doors, especially when they need the full entry system to be made to size.
FAQ:
What is the purpose of the transom?
The transom adds upper light and height to the full entry system. It helps the door fit taller openings and makes the front entry feel more complete.
Can this design be made as a single door?
Yes. The layout can be changed into a single door with sidelights and transom if the project requires a smaller active door opening.
Are the sidelights fixed or operable?
For this type of iron French entry system, the sidelights are typically fixed glass panels.
Can FD312 be made as a thermal break door?
Yes. This design can be upgraded to a thermal break version for projects in colder climates, hot climates, or locations where improved insulation is important.
